Business Development Representative - DACH Job
StarLeaf recently opened its new office on Neuer Wall in Hamburg. It is a very exciting time for our DACH Team and our Business Development Team will play a huge part in StarLeaf's success.
What will you do?
You will identify new companies for StarLeaf to engage with. It is your job to proactively contact companies that do not use StarLeaf and communicate the value StarLeaf can bring to their businesses. Once a prospect is ready to engage with StarLeaf, you will qualify these prospects for further engagement with either the Sales team or partners.
You will identify engagements through reactive means – following up on inbound leads. This is approximately 30% of the time spent. The remaining 70% of your time is spent engaging with prospects proactively using calls, email and social media.
How will your role impact the business?
The BDR Team play a key role within StarLeaf due to their focus on net-new customers. It is said that it is five times harder to acquire a new customer than to keep an existing one. Therefore, BDR's proactively approach companies that use competitive solutions and communicate the value StarLeaf brings. Currently the BDR team identify approximately 300 new engagements each quarter and generate approximately $2.5M in pipeline for the business, 90% of which is prospects who are not currently using StarLeaf.
Skills and attributes we are looking for:
Prior experience in a phone-based role is essential. It has been our experience that individuals who have either done business development, sales, inside sales or sales development in any capacity are able to enjoy the most success in this role.
It is also important to have an affinity towards technology. No prior technology experience is necessary, however, a level of comfort with technology is helpful to understand our products.
Tenacity and drive for success are essential for this role. Past accomplishments could include success within a BDR or a sales role and/or achievements in your personal life that show you are a true winner.
At first, you may be the only BDR in our Hamburg office (we are looking to hire 2x BDR's as soon as possible). We need a self starter, a strong personality, someone who is able to handle the challenges this environment will bring until we grow our Hamburg BDR team. Driving our efforts during this time will not go unnoticed and we will ensure you are rewarded as the team grows.
We have BDR's all over the world and we all stay in touch regularly via video and our messaging app. We use Salesforce and Aircall which enables the entire global team to see how each other our performing in real-time. Being familiar with these systems will be useful.
The BDR team has grown quite quickly since inception last year. We have added BDR's every quarter and the team has increased from three in Q1’19 to nine in Q4’19. There are plans to continue to expand the team in 2020, therefore, this growth will naturally create opportunities for progression.
There have already been two internal promotions within the team where one individual moved to an Inside Sales role and another moving towards a Team Lead position.
Personal growth is incredibly important to all in StarLeaf and we have regular 1 to 1 meetings with all in the team. Career aspirations form a part of this discussion and actions are taken to take steps towards an individual’s career goals.

Salary range- Flexible
Commission structure - Compensation split is 70% Base + 30% Commission
Working hours- 9am to 5pm
